It’s the fast bowling edition of Caught On Camera this week, featuring Brett Lee, David Saker and… Joe Denly?
Net Pains
AOC’s editor Phil Walker took a trip to Lord’s last month to have a swing at the Middlesex bowlers. If you can hold out until 3 mins 16 seconds you’ll see he eventually found the middle too – against AOC’s music reviews man Steven Crook no less. He had his hands full with Joe Denly though, who shelved his leggies for the day to have a play at being a paceman. Thanks to Middlesex’s media maestro Fletch for providing the video.
The Ultimate Throat Ball
Walker may have done his best to make Denly look like Curtly, but for a seriously lethal delivery have a look at this from England’s fast bowling coach David Saker in his playing days with Victoria back in 2001. The batsmen on the receiving end Jeff Vaughan was forced to retire and watched from the pavilion as the deck flattened out and his teammates racked up 589-5. Who’d be an opener, eh?
Binga Turns Singer
And finally to the third of our pace triumvirate this week: Aussie paceman Brett Lee, who suffered a broken toe during a the recent Twenty20 series against India. The 35-year-old certainly isn’t finished just yet but when he does hang up his bowling boots he’s unlikely to be short of job offers – particularly in India, where this cringeworthy pop/Bollywood crossover duet with 78-year-old songstress Asha Bhosle took the Indian charts by storm back in 2007.
