After recently celebrating her 80th birthday, AOC learnt that Elsie Rich has been making the teas for the cricketers of Over Stowey Cricket in Somerset for an incredible 50 years!
To celebrate this fact, Elsie was sent some goodies from our good friends at Yorkshire Tea, which included a tea pot, milk jug, tea towels, cakes, apron and, of course, tea bags.
Veteran Elsie has always taken her tea-making duties in her stride, enjoys watching cricket and being part of the local set-up. Her late husband Owen used to play for Over Stowey and her son Philip is now chairman of the club after a distinguished career.
Her two daughters Wendy and Sue are secretary and treasurer, respectively, her grandchildren Gary, Ian, Paul, Michael and Jack all play for Over Stowey, with Jack and Michael now featuring in the 1st XI.
Pictured are Jack Rich, Neil Buller and Dale Shepherd enjoying a cup of Yorkshire Tea with Elsie during a recent match. Cheers Elsie!
If there’s someone at your cricket club who deserves a bit more recognition, let us know.
