REVIEW

Kicking us off it’s Hunts County, one-time batsmiths of Boycs and Charlotte Edwards and still an avuncular old trader down the market. Renowned for their boxy, sharp-edged facades, they’ve let the lathe loose on these rounded edges, and it’s paid off in an easy-as-you-like pick-up that would suit the touch player. The handle is chunky and consistent – no smartypants curves or bows here. Only the wideness of the grains prevented it scoring higher – pros, used to a regular turnover of blades, tend to prefer tighter grains, but which can limit a bat’s lifespan.
